Week 3 EOC: My Demographic

My demographic is apart of the Generation Y generation. It is also knows as the Millennial generation. We pretty much follow the Generation X demographic. They range from births of the early 1980’s to the early 2000’s. Mostly we are children of the X generation.

As part of this generation we were exposed to technology most of our lives so naturally we are very Tech Savvy. Our generation also chooses to be with family more rather than the work place. We are also achievement oriented where we are not afraid to question authority and very confident in things we do.  Millennia’s’ are also team oriented. We love to play team sports and support many team activities as part of a no person left behind generation we are loyal. We also crave a lot of attention; we love getting feedback and need the guidance. We benefit from mentors who like to guide during the young part of our careers.

Week 3 EOC: Making Money For Good

There are many good companies out there that make money off of not only their products but for giving back as well. TOMS is a great company that does that, for every shoe that they sell the give a pair to people who don’t have any shoes somewhere across the world. They have also expanded in giving “sight” to people in need. TOMS gives prescription glasses for every pair of sunglasses you purchase from them to people across the world who don’t have access to eye doctors to gain glasses.
A company similar to TOMS is one called One Laptop Per Child. It’s a company that gives a laptop to kids who wouldn’t have access to a laptop to places like Paraguay, Peru, Afghanistan, and many more. This company has made it possible for kids who don’t have laptops to obtain them to better themselves and in their education. For every laptop purchased they give one back to a child in need.
Not only do companies make a difference but there are also celebrities that want to give back. Mark Wahlberg is a great example. He has always had a youth foundation that his family ran. Wahlberg states "I wouldn't be able to sleep at night if I had this amazing life and didn't give back." So while his family runs the youth foundation his line of nutrition also gives back to the foundation. Marked Nutrition donates proceeds back to the foundation to help young kids in his community.
Target is the last company I’d like to talk about. They have been giving back to their community for the longest time. They have stores everywhere and they always give back to their community. They donate up to 5% of their profits to the communities, which adds up to about $4million a week. They not only help communities but also help their team members and the team members help the community.

Week 2 EOC: Boston Consulting Group- Video Games

The Video Game Industry seems to be slowly declining based on many of the website postings on the information many of the sources are saying. Companies like Sony and Nintendo are seeing a slight decline in console sales. Many of the companies do not want to lower the price of their consoles but seemingly have to due to the weak sales. Microsoft and Sony seem to be dropping the price of the PS3 and the XBOX 360 by at least $100. Notably Nintendo doesn't seem to be budging on their console of the Wii with a steady price of $250, however, they are bundling other games with it to attempt to sell more consoles.
Also declining in the sales are the stores that are actually selling the products. Stores like Game Stop are seeing a decline as well. There just doesn’t seem to be a demand for games at the moment. They want to open more miniature stores during the holiday have to aim more at the younger generations.
It would also seem that apple has a lot to deal with the decline of the video games nowadays. When it came to video games, it was a hot commodity to purchase these ridiculous games at either $60 to $70 a game. Now that Apple has entered the game it would seem they have the edge since the games are around the 99cent and free categories.

“Oct. 26: GameStop Corp. says it plans to open about 80 holiday stores aimed at younger kids. The stores will feature video games, accessories and licensed products for younger kids. This includes Activision's "Skylanders," as well as "Angry Birds" toys and mugs and the Lego series of video games.”

Week 1 EOC: Great Customer Service

What is Great Customer Service? Well, I hope I can say I'm an example. I currently work for a Four Star, Four Diamond Hotel. I give the best customer service I can possibly give. What can I give guests? Usually I do anything I can to fulfill a guests request. Whether it is a room to be made up or bringing an amenity up because they forgot theirs at home. It's little things of my service that I learned that keep guests coming back to not only the Hotel but me as well. I work at the front desk so we receive most of the heat if anything goes wrong with the guests stay, so with that said I try to avoid any problems and try to give the guest his/her requests at the time of check in to the time of their departure. At check in they have many requests of what type of room they want; from requests like a high floor or low floor, the type of view they would like (if its available), and even what kind of layout they would like. I try to find any way to make their stay that much more comfortable. I like to consider myself a great example not to boast but because I believe what goes around comes around. I like to treat people like I would like to be treated at my time at a hotel or anywhere for that mater. I feel it is a necessity that people receive good if not great customer service so that people know and can talk about their experiences with whatever you are doing. I like going to retail stores expecting a level of customer service, however I know that not every place is going to have good service, I would just like to be one of them that does.

Week 1 EOC: My Voice

As a professional in the digital film making industry I wouldn’t quite call myself a filmmaker yet. However, I’m still an aspiring one. I enjoy taking a story and bringing it to life on screen. Entertaining is my passion. I have always thought of myself as an innovator and always eager to do new things. My favorite genre of film is comedy and focus a lot of my creativity on comedy. I do also enjoy dramas and thrillers but I’m not big on the horror films. I do like horror though but it’s just something I don’t focus on. One of my favorite filmmakers is Quentin Tarantino; I feel he is an innovator. I love his storytelling techniques and how his characters are as if you known them somehow in your life. Probably someone I would look up to as far as inspiration. I also love music, then again who doesn’t? I listen to a variety of genres. Growing up I listened to almost anything from Country to Jazz but I’m very much leaning towards Pop music now a days. I am also a huge basketball fan. I am very much into the NBA and the Houston Rockets organization. I have been a fan my whole life even though I have never stepped foot in Houston! I love the characteristics of the team though, it has always been a fight to the last minute team and they have the never give up attitude which I kind of find to be the same characteristics I have. So with that said that’s pretty much me in a nutshell. A creative person with many unique likes in everything and you get me: Kyle Santos.
